MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511032386 A) filed by Delhi Public School, Gurgaon, Haryana, on April 1, 2025, for 'a biodegradable personal hygiene product.'

Inventor(s) include Ayushman Chaudhuri; and Biswa Prakash Parida.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a biodegradable sanitary pad. The biodegradable sanitary pad includes a top layer, a first absorbent layer, a second absorbent layer, a third absorbent layer, a fourth absorbent layer, and a bottom leakproof layer. The top layer includes a non-woven cotton sheet placed on top of bamboo fabric that provides comfort, strength, permeability, and extra protection. The first absorbent layer is made of flower powder obtained from temple flowers. The second absorbent layer includes a starch-based super absorbent polymer (SAP), for retaining large amounts of liquid. The third absorbent layer is made of banana fiber. The fourth absorbent layer includes a thin cotton sheet to separate the flower powder from the super absorbent polymer layer. The bottom leakproof layer is made of natural rubber."
