MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087072 A) filed by Shoolini University Of Biotechnology And Management Sciences, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'a biochar-based photocatalyst and method of preparing the same.'
Inventor(s) include Pankaj Raizada; Vatika Soni; and Pardeep Singh.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses the synthesis of an S-scheme heterojunction Bi5O7I-PCN-TWB-based photocatalyst for the complete degradation of organic pollutants specifically and effective photodegradation of methylene blue and doxycycline hydrochloride from wastewater. The photocatalyst exhibited a degradation efficiency of 90.21% and 92.02%. The incorporation of Bi5O7I, PCN, and TWB is taken in the preparation of the nanocomposite in a ratio of 1:1:1. This approach is known for its low cost, non-toxicity, recyclability, and economic sustainability."
