MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521077964 A) filed by Nilima Manoharrao Dhote; and Shivani Rajesh Sharma; and Dr. Mamta Sambhaji Wagh, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Aug. 16, 2025, for 'a bifunctional phytochemical composition of annona reticulata extracts as antioxidant and anticancer agent.'

Inventor(s) include Nilima Manoharrao Dhote; Shivani Rajesh Sharma; and Dr. Mamta Sambhaji Wagh.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A Bifunctional Phytochemical Composition of Annona reticulata Extracts as Antioxidant and Anticancer Agent The present invention is synthesis of a phytochemical composition obtained from extracts of Annona reticulata. The FRAP and DPPH Assay were used to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the crude ethanolic extract of Annona reticulata leaves. The HaCaT cell lines were used to assess the anticancer agent activity. Soxhlet extraction was used to produce the ethanolic extracts. The Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) technique identifies the plant's characteristic chemical constituents. The several compositions are specific of antioxidant in nature, specific of anticancer in nature and effectively bifunctional in nature. The ethanolic extract of Annona reticulata exhibited stronger antioxidant activity than the aqueous extract and high anticancer agentity against the HaCaT cell line, as determined by in vitro evaluation."
