MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421022739 A) filed by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, Maharashtra, on March 23, 2024, for 'a battery module, a battery pack, and a vehicle thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Manuel Tholath; Vishal Mahajan; Krishna Koli; Rohan Chougule; and Guy Robinson.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Present disclosure discloses a battery module (100). The battery module includes a plurality of battery cells. Each battery cell (1) is defined with a vent hole (2). Further, the battery module includes a thermal run-away management system having a cross member (6). The cross member is defined with a plurality of openings (7) and a channel (4) adjacent to the plurality of openings. Each opening is aligned with a corresponding vent hole of each battery cell to receive gases. Further, the system includes a frame member (10) removably disposable between the cross member and the battery module. Furthermore, the system includes a semi-permeable member (8) disposed within the frame member and is structured to cover the plurality of openings. The semi-permeable member is structured to rupture during thermal run-away of at least one battery cell (1) of the plurality of cells, to redirect flow of the gases into the channel."
