MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441078486 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Oct. 16, 2024, for 'a battery assembly of an electric vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Suman Mondal; Suresh Chikkur; and Andreas Ruoff.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A battery assembly (100) of an electric vehicle is disclosed. The assembly includes at least one battery module (BM), a bottom housing (110), a top-lid (130), a cross-member (120), a primary sleeve (140), a reinforcement member (400), and a fastener (300). The bottom housing and the top-lid encloses the at least one battery module. The cross-member is defined with a groove (125) and the cross-member is disposed between the bottom housing and the top-lid. The primary sleeve (140) extends longitudinally between the bottom housing and the top-lid (130). The reinforcement member (400) is accommodated within the groove and adapted to support the primary sleeve. The fastener is configured to be received in the primary sleeve to couple the bottom housing and the top-lid to a portion of a body frame (200) of the electric vehicle. The reinforcement (400) tends to reduce stress concentration in sensitive regions of the assembly (100)."
