MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621010586 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Jan. 31, for 'a 3d print quality analysis system.'

Inventor(s) include Aayushi Singh; Shreyansh Pathak; Mihir Potnis; Shrey Joshi; and Dr. Vijaykumar S. Jatti.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention related to a system (100) for analysing 3D print quality, a fused deposition modelling (FDM) 3D printer (102) configured to fabricate a benchmark model, a sensor module (104) coupled with a processor (106), wherein the sensor module captures dimensional deviation and surface roughness data of the fabricated model, and a processor (106) executing a machine learning model (108) trained on process parameters including layer height, wall thickness, infill density, bed temperature, and nozzle temperature. The processor (106) correlates the process parameters with the dimensional deviation and surface roughness to predict print quality. The system enables proactive quality assurance by analysing benchmark models such as scaled ASTM E8 specimens and supports both regression and classification approaches. The invention reduces reliance on manual expertise, enhances reproducibility, and improves efficiency in additive manufacturing environments including industrial, academic, and research settings. The system is scalable and adaptable across varied FDM platforms and material types."
