MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122219 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for '3d printed concrete beams with laser-cut truss reinforcement.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. J. Jayaprakash; Mr. Sanjeevi A; Mr. Benesh K L; and Mr. Reuben Santosh Mathew.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a method (100) for manufacturing 3D printed concrete beams with embedded laser-cut truss reinforcements. The method (100) includes designing truss reinforcement configurations using computer-aided design software (102), generating laser cutting files for steel truss patterns (104), fabricating laser-cut mild steel truss reinforcements (106), preparing a 3D printable concrete mix (114), initializing a 3D concrete printer with layer-by-layer extrusion parameters (116), embedding the laser-cut truss reinforcement at predetermined layer positions during the 3D printing process (120), and completing the 3D printing process and initiating concrete curing (124). The truss reinforcement configurations include Pratt truss, Howe truss, and Warren truss geometries, with dimensions of 961 mm width, 210.4 mm height, and vertical members spaced at 86 mm intervals. The predetermined layer positions include second and fourth layers of a six-layer 3D printed concrete beam structure."
