MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087447 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Dec. 21, 2023, for '3-substituted-1h-indole derivatives and process thereoff.'
Inventor(s) include Archana Kumari; Dr. Rajan Kumar; Dr. Sachin Kumar Singh; Dr. Vijay Kumar; and Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Indole derivatives have wide range of applications in pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fragrance industry. In addition, they are being used as polymers, dues, colorants, and as fluorescent labels. Prior art investigation has revealed various methods of synthesis of 3-substituted indole derivatives but these methods are associated with many demerits like harsh conditions, high reaction time, use of hazardous chemicals and lesser yields. Therefore, there is need for a process for the commercially viable process for the synthesis of 3-substituted indole derivatives which addresses the drawbacks associated with already known synthetic processes. The present invention refers to the synthesis of 3-substituted indole derivatives (104) employing three components-one pot synthesis by using substituted indoles, amines and dihalo linker under basic conditions. The process for the synthesis is cost effective, environment friendly and industrially scalable."
