MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641091283 A) filed by Indukana Chattopadhyay; and Dr. Partha Banerjee on July 27, 2026, for “zoned Multi-Layer Orthopedic Mattress With Integrated Latex Comfort Layer And Progressive Foam Support Architecture”.
Inventor includes Dr. Partha Banerjee.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a zoned multi-layer orthopedic foam mattress with an integrated latex comfort layer designed to provide enhanced sleeping comfort, ergonomic support, pressure redistribution, and long-term durability. The mattress comprises a multilayer construction including an integrated latex comfort layer, a viscoelastic memory foam layer, a high-resilience (HR) polyurethane foam support layer, and a high-density rebonded foam base layer arranged in a predetermined sequence to achieve progressive support and load distribution. The mattress further incorporates a plurality of anatomically defined support zones configured to provide differential firmness for the head, shoulder, lumbar, pelvic, thigh, and leg regions, thereby maintaining proper spinal alignment and reducing localized pressure points. The latex comfort layer offers immediate cushioning, breathability, and thermal regulation, while the memory foam conforms to the user's body to redistribute pressure and minimize motion transfer. The HR polyurethane foam provides responsive support and rapid recovery, and the rebonded foam base layer offers high compressive strength, structural stability, and resistance to sagging under prolonged use. The integrated multilayer and zoned architecture improves airflow, moisture dissipation, weight distribution, orthopedic performance, and service life while utilizing recycled rebonded foam to promote sustainable material usage. The invention is suitable for residential, healthcare, hospitality, and rehabilitation applications requiring superior comfort, durability, and ergonomic body support
