MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641086567 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on July 15, 2026, for “stagae -Aware Predictive Inference System For Multi-Hazard Internet Of Things Monitoring Netwo Rks”.
Inventors include S. Sanjay; and Dr. G Jagadeesh.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (IoT)-based multi-hazard monitoring and predictive inference system configured to improve hazard detection reliability while reducing computational overhead and false alarm generation. The disclosed system comprises a plurality of distributed sensor nodes configured to collect multi-sensor environmental data associated with one or more hazard parameters, and an edge processing unit configured to pre-process the collected data through filtering, normalization, temporal buffering, signal conditioning, and timestamping operations. A hazard stage evaluation module classifies monitored conditions into multiple hazard stages including a baseline stage, an early anomaly stage, an escalation stage, and an imminent hazard stage based on temporal persistence analysis of sensor deviations from adaptive baseline values. A model selection and inhibition controller selectively activates only a stage-corresponding predictive inference model while inhibiting execution of remaining predictive models to optimize resource utilization and processing efficiency. The system further comprises an alert inhibition and validation unit configured to suppress alert generation until a prediction confidence value satisfies a predefined confidence threshold over multiple consecutive evaluation intervals. The invention further discloses a stage-aware predictive inference and alert-inhibition method for dynamically validating hazard conditions prior to alert authorization. The proposed system enables reduced false alarms, lower computational burden, improved edge-device efficiency, adaptive hazard-stage prediction, and enhanced operational reliability in multi-hazard IoT monitoring networks.
