Abstract: ABSTRACT A self-healing modular robotic system comprising a plurality of autonomous, reconfigurable robotic modules interconnected through adaptive docking interfaces. Each module includes a structural body embedded with smart materials, such as self-healing polymers and shape memory alloys, which enable the autonomous detection and repair of mechanical damage. Each module features a network of embedded structural sensors coupled to an onboard microcontroller that continuously processes structural telemetry to detect, locate, and assess the severity of cracks or deformations. Based on the calculated damage severity, the microcontroller executes localized decision-making algorithms to either actuate an internal healing activation mechanism that applies target thermal or electrical stimuli to fuse the fracture, or to coordinate with adjacent modules via a distributed control architecture to mechanically isolate the compromised unit. The remaining modules dynamically reconfigure and re-dock to preserve system functionality, minimizing operational downtime in hazardous environments.
