The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing phytochemical-capped silver nanoparticles from post-consumer waste tea dust and a composition obtained therefrom. The process comprises preparing an aqueous extract of waste tea dust containing naturally occurring phytochemical constituents, contacting the extract with a silver nitrate solution, and subjecting the resulting mixture to controlled heating and stirring to facilitate phytochemical-mediated reduction of silver ions to elemental silver nanoparticles. The phytochemical constituents of the waste tea dust further associate with surfaces of the nanoparticles to provide natural capping and stabilization without requiring externally added synthetic reducing or stabilizing agents. The resulting silver nanoparticles are obtained as a stable colloidal formulation comprising tea-derived phytochemicals including polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins and antioxidant compounds. The formulation is suitable for agricultural applications including seed treatment and foliar application as a nano-biostimulant. The process enables simultaneous waste tea dust valorization and production of a functional agricultural nanomaterial through an environmentally sustainable synthesis route.
