MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621083024 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Bombay on July 06, 2026, for “optical Logic Operations Using Valley-Selective Excitation”.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT Optical Logic Operations using Valley-Selective Excitation The invention provides a system and method for performing universal optical logic operations in a two-dimensional quantum material (106). The system (100) includes two-dimensional quantum material sample having first and second inequivalent valleys with opposite Berry curvatures, optical pulse source (102), and Hall- response readout arrangement (108). The optical pulse source irradiates the material sample with preparation optical pulse followed by first and second input times. Each input time either receives an input optical pulse or no pulse, depending on the corresponding binary input. When present, each input optical pulse has circular polarization opposite to that of the preparation optical pulse. The preparation pulse creates finite valley population imbalance, while the input pulses compensate the imbalance based on their intensity. The Hall- response readout arrangement generates output signal representing anomalous Hall conductivity. The output is compared with threshold to identify finite or substantially zero conductivity for NAND or NOR logic output. FIG. 1
