MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621056299 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Bombay on May 04, 2026, for “non-Visible Structured-Light Surface Sensing For Three-Dimensional Substrate Profiling And Liquid- Filled Void Detection”.
Inventors include Archak Mittal; and Angshuman Baruah.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: “Non-Visible Structured-Light Surface Sensing for Three-Dimensional Substrate Profiling and Liquid-Filled Void Detection” The present invention relates to a method and system for surface-sensing system for profiling a target region (105) relative to a platform (100). The surface-sensing system includes structured-light projector (110) arranged to project non-visible two-dimensional grid pattern (115) into a field of regard including the target region (105) and an imaging assembly (120) including an image sensor responsive to light reflected from the non-visible two-dimensional grid pattern (115) and mounted at a calibrated offset from the structured-light projector (110). Further, the system includes a classification controller (130) electrically coupled to the structured- light projector (110) and the imaging assembly (120) and storing calibration data representative of the calibrated offset, where the classification controller (130) acquire image frames of target region (105) and classifies based on the height map or the three- dimensional surface profile one or more of a substantially planar region, a raised obstacle, a solid depression, or a liquid-filled void.
