Abstract: ABSTRACT “METHOD AND UE FOR HANDLING TIMER IN TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK” The present invention discloses a method for handling a timer in a network (100) by a UE (102). The method includes running a timer for at least one of: a disaster roaming wait range and a disaster return wait range stored at UE. The method includes determining whether the timer has expired at least once after at least one of: disaster condition has started and disaster condition has ended. In an embodiment, the method includes refraining from starting or running a timer within the disaster roaming wait range again until the disaster condition has ended, when the timer for disaster roaming wait range has expired. In another embodiment, the method includes refraining from starting or running a timer within the disaster return wait range again until the UE (102) selects a PLMN for a disaster roaming service, when the timer for disaster return wait range has expired.
