Abstract: The present disclosure relates to electronic device 101 and method 500 for occlusion based pose estimation in electronic device 101. The method 500 comprises of identifying plurality of key features from first image frame captured by electronic device. The method 500 comprises of determining occlusion of one or more key features of plurality of key features in second image frame captured by electronic device. The method 500 comprises of determining type of occlusion of one or more key features based on at least one of: one or more occluded key features, number of matched key features and number unmatched key features. Type of occlusion is one of: temporary occlusion or permanent occlusion. The method 500 finally comprises of generating decision based on determined type of occlusion. Decision is temporarily saving one or more occluded key features for usage in subsequent image frame projections when type of occlusion is temporary occlusion. FIG. 1
