Abstract: MediMate is an affordable, IoT-enabled automated medication dispensing and monitoring system designed for elderly patients on multi-drug chronic disease regimens in India. The system comprises a smart physical dispenser and a caregiver-facing mobile application. The dispenser automatically unlocks the correct medicine compartment at scheduled times; IR sensors detect whether the dose was taken and transmit this data to the cloud in real time. The mobile app provides caregivers with a live dashboard, dose history, and instant alerts for missed medications. MediMate addresses the widespread problem of medication non-adherence among the elderly by eliminating dependence on memory, providing remote caregiver oversight, and offering an accessible, low-cost alternative to existing expensive smart dispensers.
