Abstract: ABSTRACT “Irradiance-Controlled Pathway-Selective Synthesis of Anisotropic Silver Nanostructures via Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) Kinetic Switching” An irradiance-controlled photochemical process for the pathway-selective synthesis of anisotropic silver nanostructures via Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) kinetic switching is disclosed. Colloidal PVP-stabilized spherical silver nanospheres are exposed to broadband white-light illumination, where light intensity acts as a kinetic control parameter. White light induces chain-scission photo-degradation of PVP into fragments like propionic acid, modulating steric repulsion and interparticle coalescence kinetics. Under low irradiance (1050 lm/m^2), slow polymer degradation promotes stepwise coalescence following a sequential Sphere rightarrow Rod rightarrow Prism pathway, yielding stable nanorods with longitudinal Surface Plasmon Resonance bands at 671-735 nm. High irradiance (ge 2100 lm/m^2) drives rapid degradation, leading to direct Sphere rightarrow Prism conversion. The nanostructures can be deposited via Layer-by-Layer assembly for thin-film optical filter applications.
