Abstract: INTELLIGENT, SOLAR-POWERED, LOW-COST SYSTEM FOR WHEELCHAIR STUCK DETECTION AND SMS NOTIFICATION FOR UNIVERSALLY DESIGNED SMART BUS SHELTER Abstract An intelligent, solar-powered, low-cost system and process are disclosed for automated wheelchair stuck detection and automated alert generation within a universally designed smart transit infrastructure. The system features a CMOS camera sensor positioned to continuously monitor accessibility ramps. The camera sensor is interfaced with a low-cost, resource-constrained edge computing single-board computer running a deep learning model compressed via layer fusion, structural weight pruning, and numerical quantization to allow offline multi-object tracking at stable frame rates within restrictive volatile memory limits. Entrapment validation is executed through a localized frame-persistence tracking logic that monitors bounding box centroids across a rolling multi- frame window against a precise spatial pixel displacement threshold. Detection of an anomaly instantly triggers a multi-tier alert mechanism, executing a local acoustic buzzer alarm and commanding an integrated 4G LTE cellular module to send automated emergency SMS telemetry to transit authorities, powered entirely via a sustainable solar harvesting battery management framework.
