Abstract: ABSTRACT FORMULATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF GRAPESEED OIL BASED SILVER SULFADIAZINE LOADED NANOEMULGEL FOR BURN HEALING The present invention provides a grapeseed oil-based silver sulfadiazine nanoemulgel composition and a process for preparation thereof for topical burn management. The composition comprises silver sulfadiazine as an active pharmaceutical ingredient, grapeseed oil as an oil-phase component, an aqueous phase, one or more emulsifying or stabilizing agents, and a pharmaceutically acceptable gelling agent. Grapeseed oil and silver sulfadiazine are incorporated into a finely dispersed nanoemulsion which is subsequently integrated into a gel matrix to obtain a substantially homogeneous semi-solid topical formulation. The process comprises preparation of oil and aqueous phases, formation of a coarse emulsion, droplet-size reduction by homogenization or ultrasonication, preparation of a gel base, incorporation of the nanoemulsion into the gel base, and controlled mixing. The resulting nanoemulgel provides a convenient topical delivery platform combining silver sulfadiazine with a plant-oil-based nanoemulsion and a gel matrix having suitable application and stability characteristics.
