MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621107936 A) filed by Rajiv Gandhi Institute Of Pharmacy, Aks University; Ashish Kumar Pandey; Neelam Singh; Dr. Mahesh Madanrao Jadhav; and Dr. Surya Prakash Gupta on September 08, 2026, for “formulation, Characterization And Evaluation Of Sesamol Loaded Zein-Pectin Nanoparticles’’.
Inventors include Ashish Kumar Pandey; Neelam Singh; Dr. Mahesh Madanrao Jadhav; and Dr. Surya Prakash Gupta.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to 5 sesamol-loaded zein nanoparticles stabilized with pectin and to a nanoprecipitation process for preparation thereof. Zein is dissolved in an aqueous ethanolic phase, pectin is dissolved in an aqueous phase, and sesamol is incorporated into the zein phase before dropwise nanoprecipitation. Process variables including zein-pectin ratio, stirring time, stirring speed and pH are 10 optimized. A preferred process employs a zein-pectin ratio of approximately 1:1, stirring for approximately 30 minutes at approximately 400 rpm and adjustment to approximately pH 4.0. Sesamol-zein ratios of 1:20, 1:10 and 1:5 are disclosed, with the 1:20 formulation providing the preferred reported characteristics, including about 89% yield, about 168.5 nm particle size, about 0.422 15 polydispersity index, about -25.9 mV zeta potential and about 81.6% encapsulation efficiency. The preferred formulation provides sustained in-vitro sesamol release reaching about 86.87% over 24 hours and improved DPPH antioxidant performance relative to sesamol solution under the reported conditions. The invention provides a natural biopolymer-based platform for 20 stabilization and sustained delivery of sesamol.
