MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631105400 A) filed by Ankit Dey on September 01, 2026, for “floodx: Ai-Powered Flood Prediction And Early Warning System”.
Inventor includes Ankit Dey.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an AI-powered flood prediction and early warning system, designated as FLOODX, for predicting flood risk and providing timely warnings at vulnerable geographical locations. The system integrates historical and real-time flood-related data comprising rainfall, river and dam water levels, historical flood locations, topographical information and land-use information with data obtained from a plurality of IoT-based water-level sensors installed at critical locations. The acquired data is processed and analysed using geographical information system (GIS) techniques and artificial intelligence models comprising XGBoost, Random Forest and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) time-series forecasting for predicting developing flood conditions. The predicted condition is combined with predefined safety thresholds to classify flood risk into Normal, Warning, High and Critical levels. The system further provides a confidence score, live flood-risk mapping, prediction reports and early warnings through SMS, electronic mail and a dashboard. A what-if flood simulator enables modification of parameters including rainfall, dam release and drainage blockage to evaluate their potential effect on flood risk. The system further supports fallback operation using available historical and external weather data and supports response actions including gate operation, pumping and water diversion. FLOODX thereby provides an integrated, data-driven and real-time mechanism for early flood prediction, warning and response support.
