MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631069866 A) filed by Asansol Engineering College on June 04, 2026, for “fault Diagnosis Of Hydraulic System Using Bond Graph Methodology”.

Inventor includes Dr. Sarnendu Paul.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses an automated, real-time model-based fault diagnosis system and methodology for hydraulic architectures utilizing causal bond graph paradigms. The invention constructs a dynamic bond graph model that maps multi-domain energy storage, power dissipation, and cross-domain energy transformations across the physical boundaries of a fluid power system using effort and flow conjugate variables. By executing systematic causality assignment, the system derives Analytical Redundancy Relations to generate analytical residuals by continuously comparing real-time physical parameters from an optimized sensor array against virtual state estimations computed by the bond graph model. Triggered residual patterns are mapped to specific structural fault signatures, enabling early detection, precise multi-class isolation, and severity estimation of faults such as pump degradation, valve stiction, and internal actuator leakage. The platform-agnostic system is suitable for integration into PLCs, FPGAs, embedded edge controllers, and predictive maintenance digital twins.
