MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631069886 A) filed by Asansol Engineering College on June 04, 2026, for “cyclone Damage Assessment Drone Using Computer Vision And Artificial Intelligence”.
Inventors include Dr. Ramesh Prasad Sah; Dr. Ashes Maji; and Mr. Suraj Yadav.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: Abstract An autonomous cyclone damage assessment system utilizes an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platform integrated with on-board computer vision and distributed artificial intelligence to execute real-time structural and environmental hazard mapping. The platform houses a multi-modal sensor array comprising co- registered RGB, long-wave thermal infrared, and LiDAR transceivers that feed raw data directly into an on-board hardware neural processing unit. Optimized deep convolutional neural networks and semantic pixel segmentation models process the data streams natively to instantly detect, classify, and grade the severity of structural failures, flooded corridors, and blocked evacuation routes. A geospatial analysis module appends real-time coordinate tracking to the neural network classifications to construct live geotagged disaster maps. A polymorphic communication suite adaptively manages data compression and transmission paths across 5G, LoRa mesh, and satellite networks, ensuring low-latency delivery of critical disaster data to emergency responders.
