The apparatus includes a three-compartment receptacle, an IR sensor, a moisture sensor, a metal sensor, an Arduino microcontroller implementing priority-based classification logic (Wet - Metal - Dry), two servo motors for mechanical segregation, a 16x2 LCD display, and an ESP8266 Wi-Fi module hosting an embedded web server. The system provides a web dashboard with citizen portal, administrative panel, GPS vehicle tracking, and trip history logging. The method encompasses detecting waste via IR sensor, classifying using priority-based sensor logic, mechanically segregating via coordinated servo operation, updating bin levels, synchronizing with the IoT dashboard, processing citizen pickup requests, dispatching trucks with GPS tracking, and logging trips to complete the closed operational loop. The invention achieves 93.7% average segregation accuracy at a hardware cost of approximately INR 4,500, providing a cost-effective, scalable, and functionally comprehensive solution for intelligent municipal waste management.
