MUMBAI, India, Sept. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521019065 A) filed by Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited on March 04, 2025, for “a Thermal Runaway Prevention System And A Fire Prevention System For A Battery Module”.
Inventors include Eshaan Ayyar; and Vivek Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: Present disclosure discloses a thermal runaway prevention for a battery module. The system includes at least one temperature sensitive filament associated with each of a plurality of battery cells of the battery module. The at least one temperature sensitive filament is configured to melt at a predefined temperature. Further, the system includes a cooling agent dispenser which is fluidly coupled to a casing of the battery module. The cooling agent dispenser selectively dispenses a cooling agent into the casing of the battery module for cooling the plurality of battery cells. Additionally, the system includes a control unit coupled to the at least one temperature sensitive filament and the cooling agent dispenser. The control unit is configured to receive a first signal corresponding to melting of the at least one temperature sensitive filament, and operate the cooling agent dispenser, based on the first signal to dispense the cooling agent into the casing for cooling the plurality of battery cells to prevent thermal runaway.
