MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641125268 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on October 21, 2026, for “a Smart Ambient Sensor Music Box Method For Controlling The Same”.

Inventors include Dr. Nithya S; Nidhi Thomas; Diya Sicily Siju; and Iffah Shafeeque Ettuveettil.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart ambient sensor music box is disclosed, comprising an Arduino microcontroller operatively connected to an audio playback module and a speaker. The system integrates a plurality of sensors including ultrasonic sensors for gesture detection, a capacitive touch sensor for touch input, a sound sensor for clap detection, a pulse sensor for biometric input, and a light-dependent resistor for ambient light detection. The microcontroller is configured to process inputs using a priority-based multi-sensor fusion logic, wherein gesture input is assigned highest priority, followed by touch, sound, pulse, and ambient light inputs. The system executes a single playback command per evaluation cycle to prevent conflicts. Gesture inputs enable track navigation, touch inputs control volume, clap inputs toggle play or pause, pulse inputs trigger playlist selection based on biometric zones, and ambient light conditions initiate context-based playlist switching. The invention further discloses a method for controlling the music box through hierarchical evaluation of sensor inputs to provide an intuitive and adaptive audio playback experience. Fig 1 to 3.
