Abstract: The present invention relates to a phytopharmaceutical nanoparticle composition comprising a hydroalcoholic extract of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis leaves encapsulated in chitosan nanoparticles and cross-linked with sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP) through ionic gelation. The extract contains bioactive phytoconstituents including flavonoids, iridoid glycosides, polyphenols, terpenoids, tannins, and phenolic compounds. The nanoparticles possess a particle size of 100–180 nm, low polydispersity, positive surface charge, and high entrapment efficiency. The composition provides sustained release of phytoconstituents for at least 72 hours, resulting in improved stability, bioavailability, tumour-targeting capability, and therapeutic efficacy while reducing systemic toxicity. The invention offers an effective nanoparticle-based delivery system for enhanced administration of plant-derived bioactive compounds, particularly for anticancer applications. Fig 1 to 8.
