Abstract: The invention relates to a computer-implemented method and system for preventing student dropout in an e-learning platform by leveraging multimodal interaction data and intelligent analytics. The method includes transforming student data into behavioural and cognitive features, predicting dropout risk along with an estimated time to dropout, and generating personalized intervention plans using an agentic artificial intelligence layer. Candidate interventions are evaluated through counterfactual simulation to identify the most effective action, which is then delivered via suitable communication channels. The system continuously monitors student responses and updates its intervention strategy using a reward-based learning mechanism. Additionally, cognitive metrics such as hesitation index and cognitive load score are computed to improve prediction and intervention accuracy, thereby enabling proactive and adaptive learner retention.
