Abstract: The present invention relates to a bicycle-mounted collision avoidance system for adaptive multi-zone blind-spot monitoring. The system employs a plurality of ultrasonic sensing units arranged to monitor multiple zones around a bicycle, wherein coded ultrasonic transmissions are used to minimize cross-talk and enable accurate simultaneous detection. Received echo signals are processed to determine object distance, relative velocity, and movement characteristics. The system further tracks detected objects and computes a time-to-collision parameter to assess potential threats. Based on the assessed risk and zone location, a decision logic module classifies threat levels and activates a rider alert interface providing visual, haptic, and/or audio warnings. An adaptive calibration mechanism adjusts detection parameters in response to bicycle speed and environmental conditions. The invention also discloses a corresponding method for real-time object detection, tracking, and collision risk assessment, thereby enhancing rider awareness and safety.
