MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080487 A) filed by Nthalmic Holding Pty Ltd; and Shanghai Isparx Medical Co. Ltd., Sydney, on Aug. 25, for 'tilted and/or extruded optical elements for the management of myopia.'
Inventor(s) include Ehrmann Klaus; Fedtke Cathleen; Falk Darrin; Lahav-Yacouel Karen; and Bakaraju Ravi Chandra.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to means of managing eye-length related disorders, like myopia. The invention includes a spectacle lens for myopia management, wherein the spectacle lens is configured with an optical zone comprising a central distance zone and at least one peripheral treatment zone configured with optical elements to increase the light intensity of the through-focus retinal image spread. The central distance zone of the spectacle lens provides foveal correction and the optical elements within the at least one peripheral treatment zone provide directional cues to the peripheral retina of the myopic eye, serving as an optical stop signal to decelerate, control, inhibit, or reduce the rate of myopia progression."
The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 02, 2024, under International application No.PCT/AU2024/050063.
