MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080875 A) filed by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., Guangdong, China, on Aug. 26, for 'multi-link communication method and apparatus.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A multi-link communication method and apparatus, which are applied to a wireless local area network system that supports 802.11-series protocols, for example, the next-generation Wi-Fi protocol following IEEE 802.11ax, such as 802.11be, Wi-Fi 7 or EHT, or for example, the next-generation Wi-Fi protocol following 802.11be, such as Wi-Fi 8, UHR or Wi-Fi AI, and which can also be applied to an ultra-wideband (UWB)-based wireless personal area network system and a sensing system. The method comprises: an STA sending a communication frame, and correspondingly, an AP receiving the communication frame, wherein the communication frame may comprise n multi-link elements, each multi-link element corresponds to a colocated AP MLD, and comprises identification information of a non-colocated AP MLD and identification information of the colocated AP MLD, n colocated AP MLDs belonging to one non-colocated AP MLD. In this way, a colocated AP MLD can be quickly and effectively recognized."
