MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080449 A) filed by Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation; and Kyoto University, Kanagawa, Japan, on Aug. 25, for 'light source device.'

Inventor(s) include Komatsubara, Nozomu; Maeda, Osamu; Yamaguchi, Keiji; Yamada, Kazuyoshi; Nakamura, Masashi; Noda, Susumu; Ishizaki, Kenji; De Zoysa, Menaka; Inoue, Takuya; and Sakata, Ryoichi.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A light source device according to the present technology comprises: a photonic crystal surface-emitting laser including at least one light emitting element section in which a plurality of layers including an active layer and a photonic crystal layer are stacked; and a laser driver which is electrically connected to the photonic crystal surface-emitting laser via a bump. The present technology makes it possible to provide a light source device in which the spread angle of output light is made narrower and size reduction and a decrease in inductance are achieved."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 16, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/001004.
