MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080857 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Aug. 26, for 'band-like object shape measuring method, band-like object shape control method, band-like object manufacturing method, band-like object quality management method, band-like object shape measuring apparatus, and band-like object manufacturing equipment.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This method for measuring the shape of a belt-like object is for measuring the shape of a belt-like object, and includes: an imaging step for capturing an image of the thermal radiation of a belt-like object such that, when designating a reference plane on the surface of the belt-like object as a plane a, an angle f formed between an orthographic projection of the optical axis of a camera onto the plane a and a conveyance direction p of the belt-like object does not reach 90 degrees; and an image processing step for calculating an index of the surface shape of the belt-like object on the basis of the radiation luminance of the belt-like object in the obtained image."
